I love the angle of this photo. Usually you only see photos of what’s on stage or of an empty proscenium. Here is where you come in contact with both worlds. The brink between stage and life. It’s magical.
This is too cool
And that brink is called the pit orchestra, the unsung heroes as it were.
They “put a Carnegie Hall orchestra in the middle of New York City and placed an empty podium in front of the musicians with a sign that read, “Conduct Us.” Random New Yorkers who accepted the challenge were given the opportunity to conduct this world-class orchestra. The orchestra responded to the conductors, altering their tempo and performance accordingly.”
This is why I love music and how it brings people together! :)
We watched this in my conducting class yesterday. It was adorable.
this is awesome
My band played this at state one year :ad love marriage of figaro :D
Icelandic descendants of Vikings singing a hymn in a German train station. They totally need to be on the next Thor soundtrack.
Oh man oh man oh man. 6 guys, and it FILLS THE SPACE. Luck of the architecture - and they know how to pull it off. Nothing is easy making vocal music in a space not built for it. I want to do this kind of thing - randomly perform multipart harmony in public spaces.
AT MY BROTHER’S SCHOOL BAND SHOWCASE THERE WAS A CONTEST AND THE WINNER GOT TO CONDUCT THE BAND WITH THE SONG OF THEIR CHOICE AND THE GUY WHO WON CHOSE THE STAR TREK THEME SONG AND BEFORE HE STARTED CONDUCTING HE TURNED TO THE AUDIENCE AND DRAMATICALLY RIPPED OFF HIS SHIRT AND HE WAS WEARING A FUCKING STARFLEET UNIFORM UNDERNEATH IM DYING
